Hawaii weather: Mostly cloudy with a few showers

High pressure to the north will keep trade winds strong through this afternoon, before weakening gradually through Wednesday, allowing the trades to slow down toward more usual speeds by the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Hawaii.

Windward showers will increase as the air mass moistens, the forecast said.

Here's how the middle of the work week is shaping up:

Today...Mostly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 73 to 79. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight...Mostly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 61 to 71. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday...Cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 73 to 79. East winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Wednesday Night...Cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 62 to 72. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Thursday...Cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 73 to 78. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Thursday Night...Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows 61 to 71. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph and gusty. Chance of rain 40 percent.
