Dinner at Roy's to benefit culinary team going to regionals

Members of the Hawai'i Student Culinary Competition Team will partner with five prominent chef-mentors to prepare a special dinner at Roy's Restaurant, Hawai'i Kai, March 16 to raise funds for their effort to bring the gold medallions home.

Team members, all local culinary students, will compete for the American Culinary Federation's western regional title April 4 and 5 in Seattle but must raise funds to pay for their trip.

The students will be paired with Roy Yamaguchi, Alan Wong, Hiroshi Fukui, Rodney Uyehara and Lindsey Ozawa, which ought to give them a taste of the pressure to excel that they'll experience during the competition.

The five-course dinner they'll serve begins at 6:30 p.m. March 16 and costs $60 without wines or $80 with them. Reservations: Robbyn Shim, executive assistant to Yamaguchi, 396-9875, 396-7697.
