Don Conover, perhaps best known to the broader public as the house organist at Hawai'i Theatre, will be honored for his multi-faceted contributions to music at Crescendo!, the annual Hawai'i Vocal Arts Ensemble fundraiser April 18 at Oahu Country Club.

Conover has been a teacher of music at the high school and college levels, focusing on choral music and music theory, and continues to teach privately and coach keyboardists. He is an award-winning composer and arranger whose works have been performed by most important local choral groups, from church choirs to youth opera. For 15 years, he has produced "A Gift of Love" concerts to raise funds for scholarships for music students. He is a founding member of the Hawaii Theatre Center docent program, regularly gives mini-concerts there and won a Po'okela Award from the Hawaii State Theatre Council for his volunteer work.

Tickets for Crescendo are $75 per person; special tables for 10 are also available for $1,500 or $1,000. Reservations: 232-9525.
