Hawaiian chant topic of Big Island workshop

'Oli, Hawaiian chant, is the subject of an upcoming workshop by master Loke Kamanu March 21 at Hawaii Volcano Arts Center.

A key to the preservation of the Hawaiian language, involving memorization of long passages of poetry, story, geneology and mythology, this type of chant is both music and history. The workshop covers four distinct 'oli and their backgrounds.
