Kauai police holding Lihue man in stabbing death of wife

LIHUE — A 53-year-old Lihue woman was pronounced dead at Wilcox Memorial Hospital early this morning after being stabbed in her home, Kauai police said.

The woman was identified as Fredlynn Hoapili.

Her husband, Joseph Hoapili, 50, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held in the police cellblock.

Police responded to a call about a stabbing on Kress Street at around 1 this morning.

The woman was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.
