JUPITER, Fla. — The Silver Slugger winners parading to the plate made the Dominican Republic appear to be pretty potent in its first game Tuesday, and Alex Rodriguez did his part.

Rodriguez doubled and scored in a six-run fifth inning to help the Dominicans beat the Florida Marlins 10-1 in an exhibition game.

Playing in preparation for the World Baseball Classic, the Dominicans totaled 19 hits. Rodriguez went 1-for-3 and came out of the game after 4› innings.

Jose Bautista went 4-for-6 and drove in two runs, and Hanley Ramirez, Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz had two hits apiece. David Ortiz added a pinch-hit RBI single.

Starter Edinson Volquez allowed Florida's only run on a homer by Jeremy Hermida.
