A collection of combat memorabilia from members of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team and 100th Infantry Battalion went on display today at Central Pacific Bank's Honolulu branch at 220 South King Street.

Among the 100th Battalion's items are a helmet pierced by a sniper's bullet and the unit's original coat of arms. The insignia, also on display in the National Archives, includes a Hawaiian warrior's helmet, an 'ape leaf to ward off evil spirits and the battle motto "Remember Pearl Harbor."

Also contributing to the display were the Military Intelligence Service and the 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion.

The exhibit at the bank is called "Honoring the Legacy."

Members of the 442nd and 100th fought in Europe and were among the most highly decorated and storied units in World War II.
