Hawaii weather: Cloudy with showers today

A high pressure area north of the state will keep moderate trade winds blowing for the next couple of days, the National Weather service said.

The high is expected to weaken through the later part of the week with a subsequent decrease in trade wind speeds, forecasters said.

The atmosphere will become more unstable into the weekend leading to increased showers over windward and mauka areas.

Leeward areas will also see more showers over the weekend.

Today...Cloudy with isolated showers. Highs 72 to 78. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight...Cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 62 to 72. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Thursday...Cloudy with isolated showers. Highs 73 to 78. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Thursday Night...Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows 61 to 71. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Friday...Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Highs 73 to 79. East winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Friday Night...Mostly cloudy in the evening then clearing. Scattered showers. Lows 62 to 71. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
