HILO — A burglar broke into a Hawaii County police officer's home this week and stole a semi-automatic pistol and Taser-brand electronic control device.

Stolen was the officer's duty belt, which held a silver Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol with black grips, the Taser X26 device, an expandable silver metal baton with a black grip, and a 1-ounce canister of Vexor-brand oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray, commonly known as "pepper spray."

The Taser device is available only to law enforcement agencies.
