Council committee today hears bill banning camping in Kapiolani Park

The Honolulu City Council's public safety and services committee will meet today at 1 p.m. to discuss a bill that would ban sleeping in Kapiolani Park at all times, following complaints of homeless encampments in the park.

The committee also plan to hear about plans by city officials and the Honolulu Police Department to address vagrancy in Kapiolani Park and in Waikiki.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the second floor council committee room at Honolulu Hale.
