Swells of 6 to 9 feet prompt high surf advisory

Rough surf of 6 to 9 feet is expected to continue along east-facing shores of all Islands this morning, according to the National Weather Service.

A high surf advisory remains in effect for Niihau, Kaua'i, Windward O'ahu, Koolau, Olomana, Molokai, Leeward Lanai, Maui and north- and east-facing shores of the Big Island.

The weather service urges people to stay out of the water and be aware of large breaking waves and the possibility of rip currents.
