KAHULUI
Park fence replacement to be complete by April

A fence replacement project at the three softball fields at Keopuolani Park is expected to be completed by April 26, according to the county Department of Parks and Recreation.

The fields have been closed since late January for removal of the original fencing that was installed when the park was built.

Valley Isle Fencing was awarded the $136,631 contract for the work.

A separate $150,000 project at the Kahului park to install 19 solar-powered light fixtures along a portion of the pedestrian walkway is expected to begin by the end of April, the department said. Lite Electric Inc. is the contractor.

Due to the use of heavy equipment and open trenchwork, access to the walkway may be disrupted during the day. However, officials said the walkway should be open for public use in the evening.
