Advertiser Staff

Northshore residents have until 6 p.m. tonight to file for disaster assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Anyone who needs assistance from damages incurred by the December storms is urged to apply. Applications may be submitted over the phone by calling 800-621-3362. Or apply online by midnight at www.disasterassistance.gov.

To date, about 1,2000 O'ahu residents and businesses have applied for assistance through the Individual Assistance program. More than $2.6 million in aid has been approved and more than 950 homes inspections have been done. Nearly $2 million of the federal funds have been given in the form of housing assistance and $600,000 in Other Needs Assistance.
