CFB: Marshall linebacker faces drug charge

Associated Press

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall University linebacker Corey Hart will miss this fall's season opener against Southern Illinois after being arrested on a misdemeanor drug charge.

A Cabell County Magistrate Court clerk says Hart and a woman he was visiting at Haymaker Hall were charged Thursday with possession of a controlled substance. Hart also was charged with obstructing an officer.

University police secured a search warrant after resident hall advisers smelled marijuana outside the woman's suite.

Head football coach Mark Snyder said the 20-year-old sophomore will not play in the Sept. 5 game.

Hart remained free on bond Friday.

There was no phone listing for Hart in the Huntington area. It was not known whether he has secured an attorney.
