Service Wednesday; fund established to aid family

Advertiser Staff

Services for slain Wai'anae High School teacher Asa Yamashita have been scheduled for Wednesday at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary, 2233 Nu'uanu Ave.

A fund has been established to help the Yamashita family. The account is called The Friends of Asa Yamashita.

Donations can be made at any American Savings Bank.

Yamashita is survived by her husband, Bryan; daughters, Katherine "Katie" and Victoria "Tori"; father, Takeo "Joe" Shimabukuro; sisters, Jan, Rae and Lee Shimabukuro; and hanai brother, Keith Z. Kaneshiro.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Casual attire.

A private inurnment is planned.
