NFL: Terrell Owens and Buffalo Bills: Strange bedfellows

By Dan Pompei
Chicago Tribune

CHICAGO — We could have imagined Terrell Owens taking a bite of the Big Apple in New York City. But biting chicken wings in Buffalo?

Wait until T.O. tries to catch passes from Trent Edwards that are nowhere near as catchable the ones from Tony Romo were.

Wait until T.O. gets his hands on those run-first game plans from offensive coordinator Turk Schonert.

Wait until blue-collar Bills fans get a load of his T.O.-first attitude.

The marriage between T.O. and the Bills could be a short one, as well as a tumultuous one. Owens signed a one-year deal with the Bills on Saturday after the Cowboys released him Wednesday, reportedly for a guaranteed $6.5 million.

Owens claimed he picked the Bills in part because he believes the team has all the pieces.

"I'm leaving America's team (for) North America's team," Owens said in a news conference.

Owens joins an offense that scored three points or fewer in three of its last five games, finished 22nd in the NFL in passing yards and did not have a 300-yard passing game all season.

Owens could help generate interest for a team that needs help selling tickets. He also could make life very difficult for Bills head coach Dick Jauron.
