NFL: Vikings re-sign defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy

Associated Press

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Jimmy Kennedy has re-signed with the Minnesota Vikings, providing the team with insurance at defensive tackle.

Terms of the deal announced Wednesday were not disclosed.

After starting tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams were initially suspended for four games in early December due to a controversial diuretic pill, Kennedy was signed to fill the void.

A federal judge has put a hold on the Williams' punishment pending a hearing this summer.

Kennedy likely joins Letroy Guion and Fred Evans as the backups.

Kennedy, a first-round draft pick by St. Louis in 2003 out of Penn State, has had a disappointing NFL career. He has five sacks in 64 career games.
