HONOKAI HALE, NANAKULI
Wai'anae Coast urged to save water after pipe leak

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply yesterday urged Wai'anae Coast residents to use water sparingly after a pipe that refills area reservoirs sprung a leak near Honokai Hale.

The 24-inch water main broke in an area off the shoulder of Farrington Highway about 3 p.m. Repairs will not be completed until today, the water agency said.

Officials said residents should refrain from doing laundry, watering lawns or washing cars until repairs are completed.

Traffic was not affected.

Earlier yesterday, some lanes of Farrington Highway between Nanakuli and Haleakala avenues were closed in the morning after a work crew accidentally broke a pipe. All lanes were reopened by afternoon.
