Six students on a school bus and a woman in a car were injured this morning when the bus and two cars were involved in a collision on H-1 Freeway.

The students were fifth-graders from charter school Ka Waihona o ka Naauao and were on a Ground Transport Inc. bus, said Louis Gomes, president of the company.

Gomes said they were going on a field trip to the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the Department of Emergency Services, said the injured were taken to an area hospital in stable condition. None were in serious condition.

Cheplic said the children were all under 12. The woman, in her 20s, was in one of the other vehicles, he said.

The accident happened about 9:10 a.m. in the freeway's east-bound lanes past the Waimalu interchange in Pearl City.

Traffic was backed up to the H-1/H-2 interchange until the accident was cleared at about 11 a.m.
