High surf warning until 6 p.m. today

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf warning, in effect until 6 p.m. today.

Surf along north-facing shores will be 20 to 25 feet and diminish to 10 to 14 feet by late afternoon.

Surf along east-facing shores will be 12 to 16 feet, lowering to 6 to 12 feet by late afternoon.

Waves washed sand and small rocks onto several stretches of Kamehameha Highway in Windward O'ahu. Traffic continued to flow, however. Water came over the road around high tide at 6:10 p.m.
