UC San Diego outlasts volleyball Warriors in five sets

Jason Spangler, Frank Fritsch and Gerald Houseman each had 15 kills tonight to lift No. 8 UC San Diego to a 30-21, 30-27, 23-30, 28-30, 15-13 victory over No. 12 Hawai'i in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball match at La Jolla, Calif.

UC San Diego is 10-10 overall and 6-9 in the MPSF. UH is 4-13 and 3-11.

Sean Carney and Brennon Dyer each had 19 kills for the Warriors.

A service error by Carney gave UC San Diego a 13-12 lead in the fifth set. UH's Nejc Zemljak was blocked to give the Tritons a 14-12 lead. Carney's kill closed it to 14-13, but Will Ehrman ended it with a kill.
