AAJA-Hawaii career workshop tomorrow

The Hawaii chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association tomorrow presents "A Layoff Survival Guide: How to Survive Shaky Times."

With newsrooms downsizing, find out how to prepare if you're concerned about losing your job, you've received a pink slip, or you just want to be ready for what's ahead. Our panelists will address what employers are looking for, journalism-related jobs and job searching in a tough market.

The workshop will be at 6 p.m. at The Honolulu Advertiser first-floor conference room.

Panelists will include:

  • Steve Petranik, editor for Hawaii Business Magazine

  • Jeanne Mariani-Belding, editorial and opinion editor for The Honolulu Advertiser

  • Glenn Wakai, former television reporter, owner of High Impact Communications public relations company, and state legislator

  • Catherine Toth, journalism instructor at Kapiolani Community College

  • Fernando Pizarro, content manager of customer relations at HMSA

  • Gene Park, content specialist at HMSA

This panel is free to all. Call 535-8102 for more information. Walk-ins will be accepted tomorrow.
