Michelle Stein scored with 1:58 to play as second-ranked Southern California beat fourth-ranked Hawai'i, 7-6, last night in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's water polo match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Stein and Joelle Bekhazi each scored two goals for the Trojans (12-1, 3-0).
Leonie Van Der Molen and Carmen Eggens scored three goals apiece for the Rainbow Wahine (9-7, 1-4), who led 6-4 early in the second half.
GOLF
UH IN SIXTH PLACE
The University of Hawai'i women's golf team shot 311 yesterday and is in sixth place at 41-over-par 617 entering today's final round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the par-72 Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.
Idaho leads the 12-team field after shooting 301 for a 22-over 598 total.
Corie Hou is in fifth place after firing her second straight 74 to lead the Rainbow Wahine with a 148 total.
Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro has a one-stroke lead after shooting 75—144.
BASEBALL
'EWA WINS O'AHU AJA
Devin Oshiro's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning drove in Travis McGauhy as 'Ewa edged Waipahu, 4-3, last night to win the O'ahu AJA League championship at Hans L'Orange Park.
Cy Donald, Brad Taura and Reid Goto each had three hits for 'Ewa, which will represent O'ahu in the April 11-12 state tournament at Les Murakami Stadium.
Keenan Sue had three hits, including a homer, and Moku Paiva also had three hits for Waipahu.
SOFTBALL
DIXIE SWEEPS CU
Brittnie Whipple pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts as Dixie State beat Chaminade, 3-1, last night to complete a sweep of a Pacific West Conference doubleheader at Central O'ahu Regional Park.
Dabey McIntyre had two RBIs for the Red Storm (23-3, 12-2), who scored twice in the top of the seventh to break a 1-1 tie. Skye Virtudes hit an RBI single for the Silverswords (4-18, 3-7).
In the opener, Lauren Folta scattered six hits and struck out eight as Dixie State won, 6-2. Kelsey Mendenhall hit a solo home run, and Ashley McFarland and Bailie Hicken each had two hits and an RBI for Dixie. Kristine Mihara batted 2 for 3 and drove in a run for Chaminade.
