Tickets now on sale for 'Mamma Mia!' at Blaisdell

Tickets are on sale now for "Mamma Mia!," the hit musical based on the songs of ABBA that makes its Hawai'i debut at the Blaisdell Concert Hall May 12 through May 24.

Tickets are $75, $65 and $40 for weekdays and Sunday evenings; $85, $75 and $50 for Friday and Saturday performances and Sunday matinee.

A Gala Benefit for the Women's Cancer Center at Kapiolani Medical Center will also be held Opening Night. Gala tickets are priced at $100 each and include VIP seating plus invitation to a cast party after the show, held at Romano's Macaroni Grill in Ala Moana Center. Call 732-7733 to reserve tickets. The musical has been seen by more than 32 million people around the world. It is a story of Donna, an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on an idyllic Greek island. She is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her two lifelong best girlfriends — practical and no-nonsense Rosie and wealthy, multi-divorcee Tanya — from her one-time backing band, Donna and the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own.

The national tour coming to Blaisdell Concert Hall features Michelle Dawson as Donna Sheridan. Among her Broadway credits have been productions of "Ragtime," "Show Boat" and "Cyrano," as well as national tours of "The Secret Garden," "Annie," "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber" and "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." Appearing as her daughter Sophie will be Liana Hunt who has been seen as Eponine in "Les Miserables," Hope in "Urinetown" and Belle in "Beauty and the Beast." Appearing as Donna's friends are Kittra Wynn Coomer as Rosie and Rachel Tyler as Tanya.

The three prospective fathers will be played by John Hemphill as Sam Carmichael, Martin Kildare as Bill Austin and Michael Aaron Lindner as Harry Bright.

Group sales, with discounts available for 15 or more, are available through the Hawaii Opera Theatre Box Office, 593-2468, with no discounts available for Friday or Saturday evening performances.

There are special discounts for groups, students and Scouts and senior groups and there is a 10 percent discount on tickets for military with ID, exclusive of Friday and Saturday evenings only.
