KAHALA
Barnes & Noble benefit for Asa Yamashita fund

Barnes & Noble will hold a book fair March 27 through April 5 to benefit the Asa Yamashita Scholarship Fund.

The book fair will be held at the Kahala Mall store, with a portion of the sales going to the fund.

Yamashita, 43, was stabbed to death Feb. 27 at 'Ewa Town Center. She was a teacher at Wai'anae High School.

The school has established a scholarship fund in her name and will award it to a senior who shows the biggest improvement in reading scores from his or her freshman year.

Barnes & Noble customers can help by mentioning the book fair at the checkout counter or by donating a book to the Wai'anae High School library.
