NCAA: Lawson starting for Tar Heels against LSU

Associated Press

GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson will start for the Tar Heels in their second-round NCAA tournament game against LSU today.

Lawson has missed the past three games with a jammed right big toe. He hurt himself just before the regular-season finale against Duke.

Coach Roy Williams had said it would be a gametime decision whether the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year would suit up against LSU.

Lawson averages about 16 points per game for the Tar Heels, the top seed in the South Region.
