CBKB: Kentucky's Gillispie dismisses rumors

Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie is dismissing rumors he met with top university officials Friday to talk about the status of his job.

At a news conference Sunday, the coach said he and his team have been focused on preparing for Monday's second round NIT game against Creighton.

He says he isn't worrying about things he can't control, like his job security.

He said that Kentucky's failure to make the NCAA tournament was a learning experience for the Kentucky players and one they have used to mature. When asked if he himself had learned anything as a coach, Gillispie said he was only focused on preparing for a Creighton team that is fired up to play the Wildcats.

Kentucky (21-13, 8-8) last played at Creighton (27-2, 14-4) on Dec. 19, 1940.
