Man in good condition after car crash near OCCC

Advertiser Staff

A 21-year-old Wahiawa man was in good condition at The Queen's Medical Center today after an early-morning crash near Oahu Community Correctional Center on Kamehameha Highway.

Police said the man was in a white Dodge van heading west at 4 a.m. when he lost control and hit two wooden utility poles.

Rescue crews spent 45 minutes cutting the man out of his vehicle after the single-car crash, an HFD spokesman said. He was taken to Queen's in critical condition, but upgraded to good condition.

Speed and alcohol were factors, police said.

Westbound lanes on Kamehameha Highway between Puuhale and Middle streets were closed until HECO crews made repairs.
