Kaneohe fire does $200,000 in damage

An early morning fire at a Kaneohe townhouse left an estimated $200,000 in damage to the unit, said Capt. Earle Kealoha, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters were called at 7:23 this morning to 44-340 Olina St. where they found the second unit of a six unit building on fire, Kealoha said.

The fire was under control by 7:31 and extinguished at 8:21. About 25 firefighters helped put out the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire and Kealoha said a single retired male lived there.

A second unit suffered an estimated $10,000 in smoke and water damage, he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
