NCAA: After successful run, Boise wants to host again in 2012

Associated Press

BOISE, Idaho — With another set of NCAA basketball tournament games in the books, Boise officials say they are looking to do it all over again in 2012.

Boise hosted eight college teams and their fans for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament last week. Missouri and Xavier won both matchups to advance to the round of 16 this week.

Boise State University Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier says the NCAA will begin taking bids for 2012 tournament games this fall. And he expects to lobby for getting Boise in a three- or four-year rotation for hosting.

NCAA official say they were impressed with the fan turnout last week for the Boise games.

As attendance at other sites fell slightly, Boise reported crowds exceeding capacity at Taco Bell Arena.
