Pedestrian dies after being hit on Nimitz Highway

A woman pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Nimitz Highway this morning has died.

The woman, in her mid 50s and in critical condition, was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.

The collision was called in at about 8:11 this morning and took place on Nimitz Highway near Sand Island Access Road, Cheplic said.

No other information was available.

Police have closed the two left lanes in the 'Ewa-bound direction of Nimitz Highway to investigate.
