ZAC EFRON BACKS OUT OF 'FOOTLOOSE' REMAKE

NEW YORK — Zac Efron has dropped out of a remake of "Footloose."

Paramount Pictures says the "High School Musical" heartthrob is no longer attached to the upcoming film. The studio did not give a reason in yesterday's statement, but said it remains committed to director Kenny Ortega and the film.

Efron soared to stardom in the "High School Musical" franchise as music-loving jock Troy. The 21-year-old actor sang and danced in the 2007 movie musical "Hairspray," and had been primed to bust some moves in the update of the 1984 classic "Footloose."

YALE SUES TO KEEP VAN GOGH MASTERPIECE

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Yale University is suing to hang on to one of Vincent van Gogh's most famous works.

The Ivy League university sued yesterday in federal court in Connecticut to assert ownership of "The Night Cafe" and block a descendant of the original owner from claiming it.

Pierre Konowaloff is the purported great-grandson of industrialist and aristocrat Ivan Morozov, who owned the painting in 1918.

Russia nationalized Morozov's property during the communist revolution. The painting, which the Soviet government later sold, has been hanging in Yale's art gallery for almost 50 years.

The school says it wants to remove any cloud over its ownership.
