No. 1 UC Irvine sweeps Warriors in volleyball

Top-ranked UC Irvine, led by Taylor Wilson's 15 kills, swept past No. 13 Hawai'i, 30-17, 30-25, 30-26, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball match tonight in Irvine, Calif.

The Anteaters are 18-3 overall and 13-2 in the MPSF. UH is 6-14 and 3-12. The two teams meet again tomorrow with the Warriors one loss away from being eliminated from the league playoffs.

Sean Carney had a team-high 11 kills for the Warriors. Gus Tuaniga had three aces.

The Warriors got off to a slow start in the first set, hitting minus-.111. The two teams played a tight second set before UC Irvine took the lead for good at 11-10. UH improved it's hitting to .308. The Anteaters opened with a 6-0 lead and never trailed in the third set.
