CBKB: UConn's Calhoun says mistakes may have been made

Associated Press

HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun says UConn could have made mistakes in its recruiting of former basketball player Nate Miles.

Calhoun, speaking to Yahoo! Sports after last night's 72-60 UConn win over Purdue, acknowledged that he and his staff have sometimes had trouble interpreting what is permissible and what is not in the recruiting process.

The school is looking into a Yahoo! Sports report that an agent with ties to UConn steered Miles to the school, and that coaches exceeded NCAA limits on the number of phone calls they made to Miles.

Meanwhile, Tampa radio station 1010 CBS Sports Radio, and the Tampa Tribune reported that the same agent, Josh Nochimson, paid for a surgery Miles had in December 2007.
