Hawaii gas prices unchanged this week from last

The average price of a gallon of gasoline statewide was unchanged this week at $2.43 a gallon, AAA Hawaii reported today.

In Honolulu, the average price was $2.35 a gallon, down 1 cent from last week. The Honolulu average was up 2 cents from a month ago, but $1.19 lower than a year ago.

In Hilo, the average price was $2.52 a gallon, up 1 cent from a week ago. It was 4 cents higher than a month ago, but $1 lower than a year ago.

The average price in Wailuku of $2.61 a gallon was unchanged from both last week and a month ago. It was down $1 from a year ago.

"Hawaii gas prices continue to fluctuate slightly," said Richard Velazquez, AAA Hawaii regional manager. "We've been in this pattern for a few weeks and despite these significantly lower prices from a year ago, we encourage motorists to maintain their vehicles and not load them down with extra cargo to get the best mileage possible."
