TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE: "Friday Night Lights," 8 p.m., NBC.

Two weeks from the season finale, here are the semi-finals for the state football championship. The offense struggles in sheets of rain.

Leading into that are the personal problems that make this one of the TV's best dramas. Matt Saracen, the displaced quarterback, agonizes as his grandmother sinks into dementia; Tyra Collette tries to give her sister — Mindy, the pole dancer — a bachelorette party.

This show tugs beautifully at the small-town class system. Life falls apart for big-time auto dealer Buddy Garrity and beer distributor Joe McCoy. Meanwhile, we've seen immense growth from former blue-collar roughnecks Tim Riggins and Tyra. "Friday Night Lights" has great young actors, including Taylor Kitsch and Adriane Palicki as Tim and Tyra. Scattered in are talented veterans, including D.W. Moffett and Janine Turner as J.D.'s parents and Kim Dickens as Matt's prodigal mom.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE II: "Mistresses," 3, 6 and 8 p.m., BBC America.

Last week's episode (rerunning at 2, 5 and 7 p.m.), ended with a fierce jolt. If you haven't see that, catch the rerun first and skip the "Mistresses" paragraph later on.

The 3 p.m. episode is a big one, deftly wrapping up story lines for all four characters.
