LEEWARD COAST
Wai'anae Farmer's Market closes in April, moves in May

The Wai'anae Farmer's Market is moving from the Makaha Resort to the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center starting in May.

The market will be closed throughout April in preparation for the 8:30 a.m. grand opening at the new location on Saturday, May 2.

The market, sponsored by the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, will be open every Saturday after that at the Comp Center.

Since its inception in June of last year, the market has been held at the Makaha Resort.

Although resort manager Randy Lehr said he is sorry to see the market leave, he supports the move because organizers believe the new, more central location will get fresh produce to more residents of the Wai'anae Coast.

The market will be held in the Comp Center's mid-level parking lot, above the Adult Day Care Center and just below the building that houses the center's Dining Pavilion.

For more information, go to www.hfbf.org or call 848-2074; or contact market manager Desiree Hikuroa at 697-3599.
