Robots took over the Stan Sheriff Center a couple days ago, but the lunacy should be wrapped up today as teenagers from Hawai'i, California, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Mexico and the Philippines get the 'bots under control.

The high schoolers are competing in the regional competition in hope of advancing to the "Superbowl of Smarts," aka the FIRST (For Inspiration of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition.

This year's theme is "Lunacy," celebrating the 40th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

For more information, visit www.robotics.hawaii.gov or head over to the Stan Sheriff Center at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa. The opening ceremony is at 9 a.m., the final rounds are at 1 p.m., there's a cultural exhibition at 4:15 p.m and the awards ceremony is at 4:30.
