When we retire and do nothing, our body's systems slow down and disintegrate. As a result, our life is short-ended. In New England, the Yankee stronghold of America from which clipper ships and whalers ran to India, China and Japan, there is an old saying as good today as ever: "It is better to wear out than rust out."
