Castle senior Tuamoheloa was a terror in backcourt

In a standout three-guard Castle backcourt, Nick Tuamoheloa emerged on top when O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys basketball coaches recently voted on postseason honors.

Tuamoheloa, a 5-foot-8 senior, was named OIA White Conference Eastern Division Player of the Year.

He is joined on the OIA White East all-star first team by fellow Knights guard Isaiah Tilton, Kalani forward Angelo Berardi, Kailua guard Corey Lau and Roosevelt forward Matthew Moe.

A third Castle guard, Michael Santos, was named to the second team.

"All three (Castle) guards were good, but I thought he was the most physical, he gave us the most problems," said Roosevelt coach Steve Hathaway said of Tuamoheloa. "He was a smart player, too. That's why I voted for him."

Tilton is a 5-10 senior, Berardi a 6-foot junior, Lau a 5-5 junior and Moe a 6-1 senior.

Hathaway was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Rough Riders to a 12-4 league record and a state tournament berth in his first season after moving over from Maryknoll of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu.
