Kapolei hands Campbell first softball loss

Kahana Higa pitched a six-hitter and Kapolei scored one run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh yesterday to beat Campbell, 3-1, in the second game of an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference Western Division softball doubleheader.

It was the first league loss for Campbell (5-1). Kapolei is 2-2.

In the first game, Katie Manuma pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and hit a two-run homer in the top of the 11th as Campbell beat Kapolei, 2-0.

Samantha Kuakini and Kayree Naiwi had three hits apiece, and the host Seariders rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Leilehua. In the second game, Kuakini fired a six-hitter with six strikeouts and Hope Tootoo went 2 for 3 with an RBI single in the top of the seventh to help the Seariders complete the sweep.

Tierra Fethal tossed a one-hitter, and Dara Aiwohi-Dutro and Shanelle Sato had two hits apiece to lead the visiting Marauders over the Chargers in the first game. Sato batted 3 for 4 with three runs scored and Aiwohi-Dutro scored twice to lead Waipahu to a sweep.
