Hawaii weather: A bit rainy today, tomorrow too

A high pressure area building to the northeast of the state will strengthen trade winds over the main Hawaiian islands this week, the National Weather Service said.

Windward showers will increase with the winds.

Here's how things look at the start of a new work week:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind between 13 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. East wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Breezy, with a east wind between 16 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. East wind around 18 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
