Workers from an environmental cleanup company scooped up absorbent granules used to soak up diesel fuel this morning after a pre-dawn truck accident on the west-bound upslope of Moanalua Freeway at Red Hill. The freeway was shut down for several hours.

Police have reopened all four west-bound lanes of Moanalua Freeway as of 8:40 a.m.

The Tripler and Fort Shafter on-ramps to the west-bound lanes of Moanalua Freeway also were reopened.

The freeway was shut down just prior to 5 a.m. to allow firefighters and workers from a private company to wash down and clean all lanes of the freeway following a crash that left a truck leaking diesel fuel onto the road surface.

The leaking fuel combined with light rain in the area made for very slippery conditions, police said.
