High surf advisory posted for east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect for the east-facing shores of all islands except Lanai.

Surf along the affected shorelines is expected to reach 6 to 9 feet today, according to the advisory, which will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, expect surf of 8 to 10 feet along north-facing shores; 3 to 6 feet along west-facing shores: and 1 to 2 feet along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Sunday, April 5: Strong trade winds will continue to produce the short-period, rough surf on the east shore through much of the week. The northwest swell will peak today at less than advisory size on the north shore.
