The University of Hawaii football team will be away for three consecutive games in September, which will include a rare Wednesday game.

The Western Athletic Conference completed its schedule for the 2009 season today and it has UH playing games at Washington State Sept. 12, UNLV Sept. 19 and Louisiana Tech Wednesday, Sept. 30, in a nationally televised game. The WAC is planning to announce the complete national television schedule on Wednesday.

UH's other road games will be Idaho (Oct. 17), Nevada (Oct. 31), and San Jose State (Nov. 21).

The Warriors open their season Sept. 4 against Central Arkansas at Aloha Stadium. They also host Fresno State (Oct. 10), Boise State (Oct. 24), Utah State (Nov. 7), New Mexico State (Nov. 4), Navy (Nov. 28) and Wisconsin (Dec. 5).

"We have an exciting home schedule that features quality conference and non-conference opponents that I'm sure our fans will really enjoy watching us play," head coach Greg McMackin said in a release. "Additionally, we have some great contests on the road that will definitely challenge our players. Overall, I'm very pleased with the schedule and I look forward to preparing our team for the 2009 season."

The schedule features six teams that played in bowl games last season: Navy (EagleBank), Wisconsin (Champs Sports), Boise State (Poinsettia), Fresno State (New Mexico), Nevada (Humanitarian), and Louisiana Tech (Independence).

UH closes out the regular season with a pair of non-conference against Navy and Wisconsin.

Navy, under the leadership of former Radford High and UH quarterback Ken Niumatololo, will be making just its second-ever visit to the Islands and first since 1999.

UH will face Wisconsin for the sixth time, with the last meeting coming in 2005 at Aloha Stadium.
