Maori theater company Tawata Productions presents "He Reo Aroha" for a 10-show run at The ARTS at Marks Garage. The two-person boutique Maori musical, which combines drama and music with songs in both English and Maori, opened last night and will continue through May 10.

The stage show is the story of two friends — one from a world of privilege and one from a life of honest hard work — whose polar worlds collide and connect over their love of music. When Kaia leaves for Europe in search of social prestige, she leaves behind her hard-working soulmate whose destiny is his fishing boat and life of hard work. Is their love for each other, and for their music, enough to bridge the gap?

He Reo Aroha / The ARTS at Marks Garage / 1159 Nu'uanu Ave. / 2 and 11 p.m. Saturday, see calendar on pages 36-41 for additional showtimes / $15-$20 / 528-0506

HAPPY BATTLE OF PUEBLA DAY, MEXICO!
