Doris Windle Estes, 94, of 'Ewa Beach, a longtime volunteer for the U.S. Navy League, died April 23.

Born in Lewiston, Maine, she was also prominent for her volunteer work and support for the Waikiki Baptist Church. Her husband, retired Chief Petty Officer Harold Estes, also 94, survives her.

"They were married 66 or 67 years and were like newlyweds until the last day," said their caregiver, Chris Fidelibus.

The couple came to Hawai'i in 1962 and lived in Waikiki for many years before moving to a care facility in 'Ewa Beach.

Harold Estes, from Oklahoma City, retired from the Navy in 1955, Fidelibus said.

Doris Estes is also survived by two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. No flowers. Donations to Navy League Honolulu Council, P.O. Box 31032, Honolulu, HI 96820, or Waikiki Baptist Church, 424 Kuamo'o St., Honolulu, HI 96815.
