$25,000 raised at food event donated to youth nonprofits

The Rotary Club of Kapolei recently presented youth-oriented West O'ahu nonprofit groups $25,000 in proceeds from last September's Taste at Kapolei event.

Ko Olina Charities received $7,898 for training and outreach programs for Leeward youth.

Others receiving awards were the Leeward Community College Culinary Arts Program, the James Campbell High School culinary program, Wai'anae High School's Searider Productions and the Well of Hope Foundation.

Launched nine years ago, the Ko Olina Taste at Kapolei has raised more than $1.25 million for scholarships and youth programs serving the area.

This year's Taste at Kapolei will be held on Sept. 12. For information, go to www.tasteatkapolei.com.
