Lingle to deliver online address on budget showdown

Advertiser Staff

On the eve of a political showdown in which she has invited the public to the state Capitol to watch her veto tax increases proposed by the Legislature, Gov. Linda Lingle will deliver an online address this afternoon.

The address begins at 4:15 p.m. and can be viewed on the governor's Web site: www.hawaii.gov/gov

In a news release, Lingle's office said she will outline how actions taken and not taken by the Legislature this session will impact the state's economic recovery and job creation.

Lingle's public veto ceremony is at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

She will veto proposed increases in the hotel room and conveyance taxes and personal income taxes on wealthier residents.
