Hula, chant in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

The third Na Mea Hawai'i Hula Kahiko performance is Saturday with Halau Hula O Kahikilaulani, under the direction of kumu hula Rae Fonseca performing 10:30 a.m. in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park.

The halau's traditional hula and chant takes place rain or shine. (Bring ground mat, sunscreen and rain gear.)

Hawaiian cultural demonstrations also are planned from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Volcano Art Center with lei-making, kapa (bark cloth) making and 'ohe kapala (bamboo design stamps).

The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m daily. Events are free; park entrance fees may apply. 808-967-8222, www.volcanoartcenter.org.
